Welcome to Lokaal - Terms of Use
Thanks for booking your meeting here at Lokaal. To get you productive as quickly as possible, please take a moment to review the following instructions for electronic door access, wifi and general housekeeping. There are just a few things you need to know to get the most from your experience at Lokaal:
Note: Acceptance of the Terms & Conditions is a prerequisite to using the space. Please read all the way to the bottom of this page and complete the form.
Bookings:
The meeting room and must be booked with our Community Manager. Rate is $20/hr for members and $35/hr for non-members. For non-members, a minimum booking of 2 hours is required. Once booked, your Door Access app should permit access to Lokaal and the meeting room. Non-members are not permitted to occupy a seat outside of the booked meeting room as these are reserved for members only. Feel free to purchase a daypass if you and/or your guest would like to work outside the meeting room.
Damages: Just like a car rental, you are responsible for costs for any damages you may cause while at Lokaal. By completing and submitting the form below, you agree that to remedy any damages we may charge your credit card on file. Please make note of any damages to your booked space or furniture upon arrival and report them to the community manager immediately.
Cancellation Policy: Bookings are only confirmed once payment is received. Bookings may be changed or canceled up to 24 hours before your booking time (full refund less a 5% admin charge). Cancellations within 24 hrs of the booking time can get 75% credit toward a future date only. No refund or credit for no-shows since the space is reserved for you and unavailable for others to book.
Door Access:
Lokaal uses an electronic door access control system called Isonas to manage access to the building and Lokaal space for any bookings over two hours or for multiple bookings. Your smartphone is your access key (aka mobile credential). Please download the Isonas Pure Mobile app from either the Google or Apple store by searching “Isonas Pure Mobile”. Once installed, tap on the menu (top right) and select “View device ID”. Email that device ID to work@lokaal.space and we’ll get you set up for access pronto. If you are booked for a single visit for two hours or less, we do not provide mobile access. Please check in on the third floor at reception (Dubbeldam Architecture + Design) and one of our team will be happy to get you settled in the meeting room.
To use your mobile credential, you must enable Bluetooth on your smartphone. Launch the app and hold your phone close to a door access reader located on the door mullion. When the button says “Tap to Send”, tap the button and it will unlock the door for 5 seconds providing it is within your booking time slot. Please do not permit others that you do not know to follow you into the space. If you do not have the mobile door access app set up on your device, please check in on the 3rd floor at Dubbeldam Architecture + Design.
WiFi
These days to get any work done we need to be connected! Our wifi SSID is “Lokaalspace”, the password is “worklokaaL” (case sensitive). You can also typically find the current password on the chaulk wall in the kitchen space.
Parking
There is no on-site parking available. Most of our members walk or cycle to work…that’s why we’re called “Lokaal” which is Dutch for “local”. If you do have to drive, street parking on Westmount or Northcliffe Ave is free after 10am or side streets further east are free after 7am. While there is a 3 hour limit, it is rarely enforced in our area. There is also a GreenP lot south of St. Clair off Northcliffe with a 9-6 rate of $8.
Working Lokaal
Enjoy like home… Lokaal does not have dedicated staff so, to keep our shared space somewhere we’re proud to work, we have a few simple rules:
Feel like some coffee? Please do put on a pot or or use the Kureg machine for single cups (refillable filter baskets located on the counter near the machine). The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot and fresh for at least 3-4 hours after brewing. Instructions are posted in the cupboard above the machine but a good general rule is 1 heaping scoop of coffee for every 2 cups of water (brews med-strong).
Please clean up after yourself and leave the space in the condition you found it. Garbage and recycling bins should be placed in the kitchen drawer (pull-out) bins or the black trash bins located in the meeting room.
Dirty dishes, mugs and glasses should be placed directly into the dishwasher (to the right of the sink cabinet)
No Pets: While we love our dogs, cats and ferrets, not everyone does so Lokaal is a pet-free space. If you have a service animal, we respectfully request that you present a letter from your medical practitioner or therapist as confirmation.
Scents make no sense here. Lokaal is a scent-free workspace so we ask that all those coming into the space please refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes or body sprays.
If you are the last one in Lokaal, please turn off the lights located near the entrance on your way out.
COVID is an unwelcome guest here, so please be sure to read our latest COVID policy.
PRIOR TO YOUR FIRST VISIT TO LOKAAL you must complete the section below:
