Lokaal beginnings…
Lokaal (the Dutch word for local) was launched in October 2018 by local area resident and entrepreneur Kevin McIntosh and his partner in life and business, Heather Dubbeldam, as a means to bring creative entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds and disciplines together in one space to network, innovate and share expertise. It was also a way to breathe new life into an old building and revitalize a landmark corner in a burgeoning neighbourhood, with the goal of cultivating a creative hub in the community. The ground floor retail spaces now feature cool indie coffee shop Lion Coffee run by a lovely local couple Hazel and Mitch (drop by for a great coffee and say “hi”), and an international creative agency Dog and Pony Studios, whose founder has roots in our community.
